Rally is not just an IT company; certainly, it is developed with good business principles and technical capability, but behind the scenes is has a big humanitarian heart.
The story begins in the mid-Western hills of Nepal which is my birthplace; the foothills of Mt. Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. Even though I was from a middle-class Nepali family, I grew up witnessing the lives of the poorest of the poor. I believe this first-hand experience of witnessing the most difficult life situations of people with extreme poverty was the foundation of my social motivation.
After completing school education, I volunteered to educate the women of my village by conducting a literacy class during the evenings. The feeling of immense satisfaction to see these illiterate women being able to read and write was probably the source of my determination to keep myself connected in social development activities for the rest of my life.
After graduating from the university, I became associated with some US-based non-profit organizations and was heavily involved in humanitarian work. However, when looking back at my own career after a dozen years as a humanitarian, I realized that it is neither fair nor rational to expect donations from the west forever. In addition, just donated support may not be helping and can make our people more dependent on one hand, and on the other hand, it is not going to be able to handle people’s increasing needs in the future. I could see the country completely trapped in all kinds of vicious circles… in terms of quality of education, quality of health, employment, and overall development. Initially, I thought that this is due to the quality of education and unemployment and moved my steps from humanitarian worker to an entrepreneur and a lecturer with a goal to create job opportunities and to motivate youths to join the entrepreneurs’ world. However, as I probed deeper based on my observations and experience, I concluded that there are three major causes behind this situation; 1. Lack of Entrepreneurial motivation, 2. Lack of opportunities, and 3. The problem of brain drain.
By this time, I had led a US-based Software company in Nepal for 4 and a half years as their Nepal leader. I then separated myself with an aim to start the Rally Techventure, a venture with a humanitarian heart and a genuine mission to establish an excellent tech- business with a clear social mission.

There are many smart and diligent Nepali youths all around Nepal who dream to be part of the tech-world. However, they are unable to fulfill their dream due to financial issues. They are neither able to grasp scholarship opportunities nor are they able to pay for the expensive training or education programs. Rally Techventure aims to be a genuine destination of hope for such talents and to offer them an opportunity to get trained now and help them to find adequate job opportunities at our company or somewhere outside providing them enough time to pay later once they begin to earn. Rally plans to allocate a certain percentage of its profit as a rotating-fund for this program. This fund will be only for certain tech-trainings for now and we plan to provide scholarships for technology-related undergraduate and graduate programs in the future when the funds grow significantly.
Our team members are not just software engineers or tech professionals but also are our mission partners to establish the concept of 'entrepreneurship as one of the key means for social transformation'. They contribute at least one day a month to their desired social cause. Inspiring young minds to join the tech-world to be global citizens is an example.
